Werewolves. Alaska. Young love. In wilderness filled rural Alaska, 16-year-old Trileka Tyler dreams of a different life, one free from keeping her sulky younger sister, Susitna, in line and her eccentric, absent minded stepmother, Winter, on track. She gets her wish when Winter's teenage nephew, Ethan Monroe, comes to live with his aunt, and Trileka soon begins to suspect something is wrong with the quiet and attractive young man who disappears into the woods at night for no reason, sometimes followed by his aunt. Her unease intensifies when Susitna is unabashed about her attraction to Ethan and develops an alarming appetite for meat; in the meantime, wild wolves begin to stalk their yard. Trileka herself is drawn to Ethan, despite her suspicions, and the two begin to form a quiet bond. But after Trileka witnesses Ethan's transformation into a wolf, she learns the truth about him as well as the truth about her own family and a new danger which threatens them all. When her home is attacked by werewolves, her family scatters and Trileka escapes deep into the wilderness with the aid of two young strangers, werewolf hunters Wade and Jake James, who vow to help her save her family. And as they become the hunted and fight for survival in the wilderness, Trileka is torn between the open and earnest Wade James and the dark and endangered Ethan.
