There has been a significant increase in bitter struggles over the supervision of interstate water systems in the US. This title intends to encourage states of the country to assume oversight of transboundary resources, especially water, avoiding the inefficiency and expense of legal action. It contains a listing of interstate water compacts.
The proposed model water compact, drafted by lawyers and scientists from across the U.S. and documented here, will assist state agencies in alleviating resource disputes and avoiding litigation for years to come.
