Taking a staycation this summer?
Introduce children to the wonders, history, culture and customs of the United Kingdom with The Big Book of the UK!
In this BIG book you can:
- Learn about the sport of "dwile flonking"
- Find out where black diamonds come from
- Meet the supernatural animal that haunts the Scottish Highlands
- Discover the British sweets that helped Hillary and Tenzing scale Everest.
Filled with facts about wildlife, food, sports, geography, language and some very silly place names, this book will help you uncover national secrets and unearth local legends from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Imogen Russell Williams (Author)
Imogen Russell Williams reads children's books like it's going out of style, then writes about them for The Guardian, The Metro and the TLS. The Big Book of the UK is the first book she's written herself. (Looking up rude place names was her favourite.)
Louise Lockhart (Illustrator)
Louise Lockhart is an illustrator living in an old mill in a small town in England. She spends her days creating designs from paper cut outs and line drawings, dreaming up worlds where men still wear suits and hats. As well as working as a freelance illustrator, Louise also creates prints, products and homewares for her online shop, The Printed Peanut.
