A basic writing coursebook designed to develop the writing skills of Arab students. It takes the student from writing at sentence level through to writing simple paragraphs. One of the aims of the book is to familiarize students with the conventions of spelling, punctuation and capitalization.
Keep Writing is a two-stage, self contained course in writing English aimed at elementary/intermediate level Arab students.
The course guides students step-by-step towards writing simple and accurate paragraphs, paying close attention to sentence structure, verb formation, punctuation, spelling and the use of capital letters.
Continuous graded practice is provided through a variety of exercise types such as reading comprehension, gap filled, table completion, the correction of passages and the writing of sentences and paragraphs using tabular information. All the exercises are based on realistic topics and language functions, which are motivating to the students and useful in real life situations.
Keep Writing 1 and 2 may be used for writing practice within a language course, either with whole classes working together or with each student working at his or her own pace.
Notes to the teachers, comprising suggestions for teaching and timings plus a key to the main exercises, are included in a pull-out section in the middle of each book.
Richard Harrison developed the material for this course while teaching students in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman
